ABOUT LIQUID RHINOPLASTY

A liquid rhinoplasty is a non-surgical treatment that changes the shape of the nose using injectable dermal fillers. This procedure is not for everyone, since it can only be used to fill hollows or depressions – it does not make a nose smaller and it does not remove bumps; however in the right patient it can improve the shape, size, symmetry and position of the nasal tip. A consultation and an examination are needed to determine if you are a suitable candidate for a liquid rhinoplasty.

Dr Rahdon, our Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon, performs liquid rhinoplasties at Body Recon. Being a plastic surgeon, Dr Rahdon has an incredible aesthetic eye for detail- creating masterful noses.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Thicker style injectable fillers are used in liquid rhinoplasty because they are the easiest to mould and shape. The other benefit is that they can be completely removed by the injection of hyaluronidase should the patient change their mind or desire a different look. Dermal fillers do not interfere with or prevent a future rhinoplasty.

A liquid rhinoplasty is not suitable for everybody but for patients requiring smaller changes in the shape of their nose there may be no need for a complete surgical rhinoplasty. There is little if any down time with a liquid rhinoplasty, bruising is rare, and most people are able to go back to work immediately. Slight swelling may occur but is minimal in most cases.

Liquid Rhinoplasty is excellent at making relatively subtle changes and is very safe as there is no surgery involved, therefore no anaesthetic.

You will see the results immediately and if you don’t like it, it can be dissolved with hyaluronidase.

It cannot make a nose smaller. It is not for every nose. A consult is required to determine if a Liquid Rhinoplasty is right for you. A Liquid Rhinoplasty is temporary.

Generally a Liquid Rhinoplasty will last 1-2 years.

Longevity depends on which injectable filler is being used and the area of the nose being injected.

It also depends on the patient; some people break down products faster and some people hold on to products longer. There is no way to predict how long a specific product may last in a specific person. During the consultation Dr Rahdon can give general ranges for a specific location, but there are no guarantees of duration.

Generally no numbing cream or aesthetic is required as the treatment is relatively painless. Also, the injectable filler has anaesthetic mixed into it, making the nose numb as the injection progresses. The numbness lasts for about one hour. After the numbing medication wears off there will be no discomfort. The treatment is also reasonably quick- usually just 15 minutes.

Being a small procedure, there is little or no downtime with this procedure; you will be able to resume activities as normal straight away. The advice given is more to reduce symptoms such as swelling and bruising.

Gently apply ice packs to your nose as tolerated for the first 24 hours to reduce swelling. Keep your head elevated for the first 24 hours, sleep on a high pillow or even two. Do not push on, apply pressure, or massage your nose for the first two weeks.

Make up can be worn at any time and can be used to disguise a bruise should you develop a small one. You can get your nose wet (shower, swim, etc.) immediately.

A liquid Rhinoplasty performed by Dr Rahdon generally costs $800 for the majority of patients. For patients requiring greater augmentation with more filler, the cost may be higher. Dr Rahdon will be able to give you an accurate quote at the time of consultation.

Any surgical or invasive procedure carries risks. Before proceeding, you should seek a second opinion from an appropriately qualified health practitioner.
