ABOUT 4D LASER

4D treatments are designed to provide improvement in skin colour, tone, laxity, fine lines and texture all in one laser session. Post treatment it is normal to experience erythema (redness), heat (similar to a mild sunburn) and some swelling for a few hours.  4D laser also works well in conjunction with anti-wrinkle injectables and dermal fillers to achieve best results. Our philosophy is to tailor the treatment to the individual – your skin rejuvenation treatment plan will be unique to you and we are able to combine many different modalities into each treatment session to maximise your results.

4D laser treatments are suitable for skin that has been prepped with cosmeceutical skin care and skin that is tolerating vitamin A serums well. One of our dermal clinicians will assess your skin prior to treatment and devise a plan. Preparing the skin prior to laser ensures that the skin is well hydrated and as healthy as possible in order to achieve the best results for you.

4D laser treatments involve 5-7 days of mild to moderate downtime. Prior to treatment your laser therapist will give you post care instructions and recommend the use of a post care pack to help provide optimal recovery.

Laser Modalities used in the 4D treatment can include the below:

  • FRAC3 – Rejuvenation

FRAC3 is a three-dimensional treatment effect that targets superficial age-related imperfections in skin tissue. With FRAC3 there is less effect on the surrounding tissue, ensuring faster healing and less patient downtime compared to conventional fractional treatments.

  • Skin Tightening [PIANO mode] – -Nd:YAG 1064 nm

Skin tightening treatments are designed to provide improvement in skin tone and laxity, with minimal patient discomfort.

PIANO mode involves bulk heating of the skin tissue, this approach is based on super-long pulse durations (0.3 – 60 s) which are longer than the thermal relaxation time of the epidermis and other skin structures such as hair follicles or blood vessels. Since PIANO mode does not cause high initial temperature peaks in the epidermis, it will stimulate deeper collagen remodelling. It is the safest mode for reaching the deeper layers of the skin.

  • SMOOTH mode- ErYAG 2964nm.

Smooth mode uses an Erbium laser to further tighten the skin. Using a full beam, the laser is attracted to the water within the cell, and its non-ablative pulse is used to contract and lightly vaporise the outer layer of dead skin, heating it up for an instant tightening effect and airbrushing the skin into place.

  • Fractionated resurfacing

Fractionated resurfacing uses an Erbium fractionated hand piece to resurface the skin layers. This fractional laser is effective for the treatment of scarring, pigmentation, enlarged pores, uneven skin and ageing- fine lines and deeper wrinkles. Fractional lasers fire microscopic columns of laser energy into the skin, sparing the skin between these columns and creating only a partial wound to the skin. This results in less downtime and less risk while still prompting the skin to regenerate and resurface.

The fractional laser initiates a wound healing response within the skin, increasing protein and elastin production and thus improving the overall structure of the skin. The skin’s clarity and complexion will improve from stimulation of cellular turnover and breakdown of pigmented lesions.

At Body Recon the fractional laser treatment is tailored especially for you – we have the ability to change pulse width, spot size and depth of the fractionated treatment. This is the same technology as seen in older systems such as Fraxel but refined by Fotona. The fractional laser that we use at Body Recon is also able to safely and effectively treat darker skins, reducing the risk of post-treatment pigmentation problems seen in non-fractional lasers.

One of the key advantages of fractional laser is that it does not remove the entire top layers of skin. Instead, it heats and ablates micro-columns of skin which induces new protein production: this is the key to minimising downtime. With our fractional laser at Body Recon, the degree of downtime depends on how aggressively we decide to treat, although we find that most clients want to be able to work within their normal routine. Downtime is minimal but results are maximised.

An initial overall improvement will be seen after a fractional laser treatment and the skin will continue to improve over the following 3-4 months as the protein remodelling process takes place.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

The number of treatment sessions required may vary from person to person and will depend on the current state of the skin and the concerns we are addressing. For a standard rejuvenation we would normally recommend two or three treatments with 6 weeks between each and a follow-up treatment yearly, normally over the winter months, to maintain the results.

Initially your skin feels like a sunburn, it will be red and tight for 24-48hrs.

Over the next 5 days your skin will feel dry and tight- use your recovery balm during this time to keep it hydrated. Depending upon the strength of your laser treatment your skin will move through a wound healing process, with your skin peeling and flaking.

Your dermal clinician will be able to advise you on a topical homecare regime. It is extremely important to care for your skin post treatment as it may be more sensitive initially and for up to 14 days post treatment. Body Recon recommend the use of a post care pack to help provide optimal recovery for your skin. You will be provided with a post-care information sheet and it is important to follow these instructions to ensure that the skin is well cared for and protected at all times. General guidelines initially are to avoid any direct sun exposure, to apply only prescribed topical homecare, to avoid exercise for 24 hours and to ensure the skin remains clean and protected.

The cost of 4D laser is $1000 for full face treatment.

Any surgical or invasive procedure carries risks. Before proceeding, you should seek a second opinion from an appropriately qualified health practitioner.
