ABOUT COLLAGEN BIOSTIMULATORS
Beautiful skin is a journey. But as time goes on, it can be harder to keep up. As we age, our skin’s collagen production diminishes, and it doesn’t have the same resiliency and fullness as it did in the past.
When injected deep into the dermal layers, our new Biostimulators treatment increases the productivity of your skin’s own natural collagen production, working gradually from the inside out in the 6-8 weeks following your initial treatment. Resulting in a more natural youthful appearance that develops over time, but lasts for longer than traditional Dermal Fillers.
As collagen production is stimulated, the skin starts to regain its structure and volume, meaning wrinkles and defects are gradually corrected.
While results are gradual to appear after your first treatment (not instant as with Dermal Fillers), through our recommended series of treatments, typically about three sessions over a few months, the results can last up to two years.
COLLAGEN BIOSTIMULATORS - COMMON QUESTIONS
Collagen Biostimulators consist of PLLA (Poly- L-Lactic Acid), which is a synthetic polymer that has been used in human bodies since 1960 and as medical suture material from 1970. They are injected deep under your skin, where PLLA works with your body to stimulate and revitalise the natural collagen production. As collagen production is stimulated, the skin starts to regain its structure and volume, meaning wrinkles and defects are gradually corrected.
Results are gradual: this means that changes are subtle and usually aren’t apparent immediately after the first treatment. Results are generally seen around the 6 week mark and results may last for up to 25 months after the initial treatment.
Initially 2 or 3 treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart. Results develop gradually as collagen production is stimulated and skin appearance improves. Maintenance doses every two years will prolong the effect once desired results are obtained.
Serious side effects are not common. The most common side effects after initial treatment include injection site swelling, tenderness, redness, pain, bruising, bleeding, itching and lumps.
Other side effects may include small lumps under the skin that are sometimes noticeable when pressing on the treated area. Larger lumps, some with delayed onset, with or without inflammation or skin discolouration, have also occasionally been reported. Please talk to one of our Registered Nurses if you have any concerns about the safety of the treatment or if you experience any side effects.

Additional sessions may be needed to achieve full effect.

It is recommended to be used for shaping the contours of the face, the correction of folds and lip enhancement. It provides instant, localised results. Additional treatments may be required to achieve desired result and re-treatments at recommended time frames will be needed to maintain results.
