Breast Procedures Geelong

A woman’s breasts help define her femininity. Each individual’s breast can vastly differ in shape, size, and appearance. Breasts further help to define a woman’s uniqueness and individuality.

Breast surgery is one of Dr Rahdon’s specialties and he is widely renowned for his exceptional work in this area. Dr Rahdon uses the very latest techniques to produce natural looking results that enhance and complement each individual woman’s frame. Whether you are after a breast augmentation, breast lift, breast reduction, breast reconstruction or any other form of breast enhancement, Dr Rahdon will tailor an operation that is ideally suited to you.

Why have breast surgery at Body Recon?

The most qualified surgeon
Having surgery is an extremely important decision- you’re about to let someone perform a procedure on your body often under a general anaesthetic. It’s vital therefore to have absolute trust in your surgeon and his team. Your surgeon needs to be highly qualified and be extremely good at what he does.

Richard Rahdon is a fully qualified Plastic Surgeon, trained in Australia right from medical school, with further training overseas in London and Oxford. His medical training alone spans 18 years. Richard trained in General Surgery prior to Plastic Surgery and passed his Fellowship exams in General Surgery in 2003. His general surgery experience included significant experience with breast cancer surgery. This makes Richard unique in Australia: there are only a handful of surgeons who have acquired their General Surgery and Plastic Surgery Fellowship Exams. With further training in microsurgery and the cosmetic breast surgery Richard is highly trained and experienced in breast surgery. Richard regularly performs cosmetic breast surgery, as well as state-of-the-art microsurgical breast reconstruction.

Richard is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, a member of the Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons and a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. Richard is the Training Supervisor for young plastic surgeons coming to Geelong as part of their training, and is also involved in the training of other junior doctors and medical students.

The very best hospital facilities.
Unlike doctors (many of whom are not surgeons) who perform procedures in their “clinic” with no back-up, Richard performs breast surgery at the modern facilities at St John of God Hospital in Geelong, Geelong Private Hospital or at Barwon Health (Geelong Public Hospital). Thankfully things rarely go wrong, but if they did, it’s important to know that everything can be taken care of. Richard has a team of fully qualified, trusted anaesthetists to ensure your surgical experience is safe and comfortable.

The best patient experience.
Right from your first contact with us at Body Recon, you can be sure to be put at ease. We reserve priority appointments for breast surgery, and our relaxed friendly staff will make you feel comfortable and answer any questions you may have prior to your appointment with Dr Rahdon. In fact, we can even schedule an appointment free of charge with our very experienced cosmetic nurse if you would just like an informal chat about surgical procedures. Our rooms are at St John of God Hospital in Geelong and are modern and spacious- what you’d expect when visiting a plastic surgeon.

The best advice.
Your appointment with Dr Rahdon won’t be rushed. You will have an opportunity for a full discussion covering all aspects of your proposed surgery. Richard feels it is vital to achieve the look that’s right for you- he doesn’t have a “one-size-fits-all” approach. Each person has unique wishes and a unique body, so different things will be best for different people. Richard offers the full range of surgical options including trans-axillary approach (scar under the underarm) which not many surgeons offer. Part of the consult for an enlargement involves choosing the size that’s right for you- you will be given a range of sizers to place in your bra and some tight fitting tops to try. At the end of the consultation you will feel fully informed about the procedure and you will have chosen your implant size. You will be very excited!

The best technology and the shortest scars.
Breast enlargement in particular is a competitive area of cosmetic surgery. One area cheaper providers cut their costs is with the implants they use. That is never the case with Dr Rahdon. He only uses the absolute highest quality implants (most often Mentor brand) with the highest standard of quality control. Dr Rahdon has personally inspected the Mentor implant factory in Holland to ensure it meets his standards.
Dr Rahdon can also ensure the shortest possible scars- as short as 3 cm for a 375cc implant. Furthermore he can place the implant with a “no touch” technique, ensuring the highest standard of sterility and reduced complication rate. This is achieved by the use of new technology, the cost of which is included in your package fee.

The best post-operative support and follow-up.
Dr Rahdon will see you on the day of your surgery, both before and after your procedure. Once you’re ready to leave hospital, you will be given all the information and medication you need to ensure you are relaxed, comfortable and confident. Dr Rahdon will usually see you at one week, six weeks and three months after surgery, but rest assured you can have as many follow-up appointments as you need: you will never be charged for follow-up appointments.
If you have any concerns post-operatively it is important to know that there is someone for you 24/7 after your surgery. There is always a fully qualified Plastic Surgeon on call in Geelong, every day and night of the year. It is rare to find such a comprehensive service anywhere in Australia.

The best results.
Dr Rahdon is confident you will be extremely happy with your results. He has a full folio of recent cases he has operated on, which he will be happy to show you. Many of his patients would be happy to be contacted to discuss their experiences with you.

The bottom line is that Richard Rahdon is highly qualified, highly experienced and highly competent, and he performs surgery in excellent facilities with full 24/7 backup and comprehensive follow-up.

What’s best for you?

What’s best for you depends on many factors.
Some of the things that influence the best choice of procedure include:

Where would you like to hide your scar?
Dr. Rahdon can hide your scar around the nipple, under your breast or high in your underarm. The most common place is under the breast, but in women with very small breasts the scar may be best hidden in your underarm.

What size are you now and how big do you want to be?
You will have the chance to try some sizers in a bra to get an idea of the right size for you. If you have a bit of sag, you will need at least a minimum size to restore enough volume to your breast to reverse the sagging, and restore perky breasts. The most common implant size women request is between 325cc and 400cc which is roughly a two to three cup size increase.

If you are a little older or have had children, you may have a bit of sag or “ptosis”. A little bit of this can be fixed with implants alone, but if you have a lot, you may need a skin tightening procedure as well.

Are you very slim?
If so, it is often best to place the implant under the muscle but this is not always the case.

Are you a gym instructor or do you work out a lot?
If so, it may be best to place your implants on top of the muscle, even if you’re very slim. This is because implants placed under the muscle can be subject to “animation” or movement when you flex your pectorals muscles. For most women this is not an issue but if you’re very physical, it may be something to consider.

Any surgical or invasive procedure carries risks. Before proceeding, you should seek a second opinion from an appropriately qualified health practitioner.
